Cary State Forest

Cary State Forest

Cary State Forest contains 3,400 acres with slash pine, longleaf pine, cypress, and many other plants native to Florida's flatwoods and swamps.  It is owned by the Florida Division of Forestry, and has hiking trails, horse trails, primitive camping, an observation tower, an outdoor teaching pavilion, and picnic areas.  Vehicles and bicycles are welcome on the 18 miles of forest roads during daylight hours.  There is a $1 honor fee for day visitors and a $5 honor fee for overnight camping.   The education staff at Cary State Forest provides free field trips, emphasizing forest resource management through selective timber harvests and prescribed burning.
